PD [Democratic Party]: not in cahoots with holocaust deniers. Please

If the Democratic Party is looking for back up from the new great player, Beppe Grillo’s party, but it needs to be wary in order to avert an upsetting and obvious horse trading. The entire Italian history and even the PD itself would be flawed if negotiations took place without addressing an intolerable aspect of the 5-Star Movement and its leader. In brief, such a party should never be a negotiation partner of any democraytic party because its leader as well as its supporters nurture a virulent hatred for Jews and Israel, together with conspiracy theories involving the United States that in his views helps the Jews in their plan to rule the world. They are also ingaged in the glorification of an oppressive and genocidal regime such as the Iranian dictatorship. He looks at the Israeli-Palestinian conflict this way: “Palestine is caught in Israel’s grips, ally of the United States” .And he adds:"Also Syria and Iran are on the list, the latter being Israel’s target”.
The Shoah is ridiculed by Grillo, who likened Eichmann to the former president of FIAT,Romiti: in his view, “Eichmann gassed three millions people for a twisted ideal" (i.e. Eichmann, at least, had an ideal, while Fiat gassed millions of people for a bank account). Grillo, besides, here provides his own version of the Holocaust denial, by shrinking the Shoah victims from six to three millions. After all, Grillo had already attacked the “Holocaust industry”. Regarding the rule of the world, it is ruled by Jews "through usury....it’s the same old story in Europe”). Grillo even defended Mel Gibson’s rant on the Jews, who are "cause of all evils", when arrested for drunken driving. According to Grillo it is straightforward that Gibson is just a victim of the Jewish Hollywood establishment, and when stating “All Jews are responsible of all the wars in the world” he is just saying the pure truth. “Israel could cause the outbreak of the Third World War … There! I’ve said it! And I’m not even drunk.” “The Red Brigades were financed by the secret services of Eastern Europe, by Stasi, and even the Israeli secret services, Mossad, offered their help. On the basis of one of his several conspiracy theories he comments on September 11th “Is the CIA involved in the attacks? That can’t be ruled out … The US administration knew more than they pretended to know. It seems fairly sure”.
Grillo, probably deeply conditioned by his courteous better half, his wife who incidentally is both Iranian and attached to its regime, seems to be certain that Ahmadinejad does not mean to destroy Israel at all, it is actually threatened by Israel. He also thinks that life in Iran is good and that Iranian women are by no means victims, contrary to all evidence of reports we are well aware of. He deems that all information we possess on the Israeli conflicts as well as the other ones in the Middle East are due to the deceitful translations provided by MEMRI, which according to him is not a trustworthy translation agency of Islamic media, but actually a Mossad agency. Also Bin Laden’s words (did he, too, not mean at all to harm anyone, like Grillo’s Ayatollahs?) are just victim of wrong translations; they are the object of an involuntary distortion of all the best Islamic and Arab intentions, targeted by Western hatred. Mullah Omar is a victim of imperialism, likewise our presence in war scenarios a sign of aggression to innocent cultures. In his interview to Yediot Aharanot journalist Menahem Gantz he gives proof to pander to Iran, which is a worrisome sign that highlights Grillo’s stances on foreign policy; on the other hand, he considers Israel a country “which butchers its neighbors” therefore "it might end up with no friends left in the West tomorrow”.
Agreeing with their leader his fans and supporters state on Facebook pages: “We can state that Israel is a rogue state, like Nazi Germany”; partisans tried to sell the second world war as a racial-based force act … yet the happenings were nothing more but wealth expropriations … from Jews who have always ruled the world … "They are God’s cursed people ..." “ Hitler surely was a racist madman; his idea however, to eliminate the Jews was meant to get rid of their financial tyranny”, “Israel is the bloodiest, most murderous, tyrannical, and mad government in the entire world”.
True, it’s not Grillo’s fault if, on his wake, his supporters utter these rants, but for sure they keep reiterating that Israel will cause the Third World War because Grillo in person had said so, for sure the vibes emerging from his weblog and his Facebook page are affected by statements such as “It is a joke that the five permanent Members of the UN Security Council deferred Iran for its nuclear program”.. "the US and Israel after Bin Laden’s and Gaddafi’s corpses are now after Ahmadinejad". According to Grillo, as per the classic anti-semitic stereotype of the blood libel, Israelis kill Gaza’s Palestinians "like in a slaughterhouse”. There are another zillion of examples unfortunately. We very well know that anti-Semitism has always been populism’s best cement.
So, is it possible to strike a deal, to form a government, to agree a program with the 5 Star Movement without assessing first whether they are ready, their leader at the foremost, to repudiate these wicked ravings?
We don’t think so, anyone approaching Grillo ought to ask him whether he is consistent with himself regarding Jews, Americans, Iran .... Either he publicly retracts, or else no deal is to be envisaged.
